Nevada Promise New Applicants

 

New applicants must complete the following steps to qualify for the Nevada Promise Scholarship:

  1. Submit your Nevada Promise Scholarship Application on or before Oct. 31, 2018.
    1. Make sure your contact information and current high school Student Identification Number is correct so that you do not miss essential communications about your application. The Promise ID number is your current high school Student ID Number.
    2. If you were assigned an NSHE ID number during high school for a CSN dual enrollment course, please provide the NSHE ID number provided to you.  
    3. After you submit your Nevada Promise application, you will immediately receive an automatic email acknowledgement. Save this email for your records.
    4. If you do not receive the acknowledgement email, check your spam folder. If issues persist, contact the Promise Office at 702-651-7500.
    5. The next email communication to eligible applicants will be sent soon after the Promise Application closes on Oct. 31, 2018. Candidates that are not eligible at the time of application will also receive an email communication that includes information about resources for additional financial aid options at CSN. 
    6. Eligible applicants will receive an email with instructions to complete the next steps for the Nevada Promise Application soon after the closing of the application on Oct. 31st. 
       
  2. Complete Mandatory Training #1 on or before Dec. 31, 2018
    1. The online Mandatory Training #1 will be available Nov. 2018 
    2. Training #1 must be completed online. You will need to provide your Promise ID Number to complete this training (see step #1 for more information).
    3. The training consists of a series of short videos which you can watch at your own pace. The training videos are followed by a quiz.
    4. After you complete the training, you will receive an automatic email acknowledgement. Save this email for your records.
  3. Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) on or before April 1, 2019 and follow up with the financial aid office to determine any additional documentation that must be submitted on or before April 30, 2019.  Required documents may include tax transcripts which must be obtained from the IRS or other official documents. Applicants are strongly encouraged to file the FAFSA and follow up as early as possible so there is sufficient time to meet this requirement.

    3. All questions about the FAFSA and Verification Process must be directed to the CSN Financial Aid Office.

  4. Complete Mandatory Training #2 on or before April 30, 2019
    1. Training #2 can be completed online. You will need to provide your Promise Student ID Number to complete this training (see step #1 for more information). Training #2 can also be completed at a Mentor Activity Event. The training will be available in spring. 
       
  5. Complete and submit 20 hours of community service on or before April 30, 2019. Please visit the Community Service Page for more information. You will need to provide your Promise Student ID Number to complete the submissions (see step #1 for more information). The Submit Hours link will be available soon.
    1. Submit hours.  Each submission should reflect one service date per activity. See the Community Service Page for examples. 
    2. After each submission of community service activity, you will receive an automatic email acknowledgement summarizing the information on the form. Save this email for your records.  The applicant is responsible to monitor that the information in the form was input correctly by reviewing the form twice before submitting and by the reading the acknowledgement email that will be generated after each submission.   6. Participate in one Mentor Activity on or before April 30, 2019. Mentor activities will begin in spring 2019. Visit our Mentoring Page for more information. 
     
  7. Apply to CSN on or before April 30, 2019
     
  8. Complete CSN enrollment steps on or before May 19, 2019
    1. Complete new student orientation through your MyCSN account.
    2. Submit official SAT or ACT Test scores, or take CSN Placement Tests
    3. Meet with an Academic Advisor to discuss your academic plan and your fall semester schedule.
    4. Register for at least12 credits that are applicable to a program of study for the fall 2019 semester.
